Import your league

Bring your Sleeper or ESPN league into My Team and we'll read your real roster, lineup slots and scoring every time you open it. We only ever read your league — nothing in it can be changed from here.

Before you start

  • Importing a league is a members feature, so sign in first (or create an account).
  • Every import starts in the same place: My Team → + Import a league, then pick the site your league is on.
  • You can import up to 12 leagues. Each one gets its own button at the top of My Team, so you can switch between them.
  • Removing a league from StatGrades doesn't change anything in the league itself.

Sleeper

Sleeper leagues are open to read, so there's nothing to connect and no password.

  1. Choose Sleeper

On My Team, press + Import a league and choose Sleeper.

  2. Type your Sleeper username

Just the username you use on Sleeper, not your email and not your password.

  3. Pick your league

We list your leagues for this season. Press the one you want; we already know which team is yours.

ESPN public leagues

If your league is viewable to the public, you only need its league id. If it's private, follow these steps and then see private ESPN leagues.

  1. Find your league id

Open your league on ESPN and look at the address bar. The address ends in leagueId=1234567; that number is your league id.

  2. Look it up

On My Team, press + Import a league → ESPN public, paste the number and press Find my league.

  3. Say which team is yours

ESPN doesn't tell other sites who you are, so we show every team in the league and you press your own.

ESPN private leagues

Why do I need to connect my ESPN sign-in?

ESPN only shows a private league to people signed in to it, and it gives other sites no way to ask your permission. The only way any site can read a private ESPN league — FantasyPros and the other league-sync tools included — is with the sign-in your browser already holds for espn.com: two cookies called espn_s2 and SWID. You never give us your ESPN password. You connect once, and it then works on every device you use StatGrades on, your phone included.

There are three ways to do it. The first is the easiest.

Option 1: the StatGrades Chrome extension (on a computer)

  1. Add the extension to Chrome

Install the StatGrades extension from the Chrome Web Store. It also works in Microsoft Edge, which can install Chrome extensions.

  2. Sign in at espn.com

In the same browser, go to espn.com and sign in with the account that's in your league.

  3. Connect

Open My Team → + Import a league → ESPN private and press Connect ESPN with the StatGrades extension. (Pressing the extension's icon in the toolbar also takes you straight there.)

  4. Pick your league

Your ESPN leagues appear in a list. Press one, then press your team.

The extension only does anything when you press Connect on statgrades.com. It reads those two ESPN cookies and nothing else, and sends them only to StatGrades.

Option 2: copy your sign-in by hand (any computer browser)

  1. Sign in at espn.com

On a computer, sign in at espn.com with the account that's in your league.

  2. Open the browser's cookie list

Press F12 (on a Mac, Cmd+Option+I) to open the developer tools, then:

    • Chrome or Edge: the Application tab → Cookies → https://www.espn.com.
    • Firefox: the Storage tab → Cookies → https://www.espn.com.
    • Safari: first turn on Settings → Advanced → Show features for web developers, then Develop → Show Web Inspector → Storage → Cookies.

If you can't see a tab, it may be hidden behind the » arrow at the top of the tools.

  3. Copy espn_s2 and SWID

Find the rows named espn_s2 and SWID (typing in the filter box helps). Copy the Value of each one: espn_s2 is a long string of a few hundred characters, and SWID looks like {1A2B3C4D-…}, braces included.

  4. Paste them into StatGrades

On My Team → + Import a league → ESPN private, then press Copy your ESPN sign-in in by hand. Paste each value into its box and press Connect. Your leagues then appear in a list.

Treat these two values like a password: paste them only into StatGrades' own My Team page, and never share them in a message or a forum post.

Option 3: ask your commissioner to make the league viewable

If you'd rather not connect anything, your league's commissioner can open the league's settings on ESPN and turn on Make League Viewable to Public in Basic Settings. Anyone in the league can then import it with just the league id, as in the ESPN steps above. It only lets people see the league; nobody outside it can join or change anything.

Disconnecting, and how long it lasts

Press Disconnect in the ESPN import panel and we delete your ESPN sign-in straight away. The connection otherwise lasts as long as ESPN keeps that sign-in alive, which is usually months. When ESPN ends it (signing out of espn.com can do that), we ask you to connect again.

Yahoo, CBS, NFL.com and other sites

  • Yahoo: coming soon. Built, and waiting on Yahoo to approve StatGrades for their fantasy data.
  • CBS: coming soon. Being built now.
  • NFL.com and others: not yet.

Until your site is on the list, add your players by hand under My roster on My Team instead. You still get the lineup, start/sit calls and waiver suggestions; set the scoring format to match your league.

Troubleshooting

ESPN says my league is private

Your league's owner hasn't made it viewable to the public, so ESPN only shows it to people signed in to it. Connect your ESPN sign-in (with the Chrome extension or by hand), or ask your commissioner to turn on "Make League Viewable to Public" in the league's Basic Settings.

I installed the extension but the Connect button doesn't appear

Reload the My Team page after installing it. Check that you're using Chrome with the extension switched on (chrome://extensions), and that you're signed in to StatGrades. The button is under Import a league → ESPN private.

It says I'm not signed in at espn.com

The extension reads the sign-in from the Chrome profile you're using. Open espn.com in that same Chrome window, sign in, then come back and press Connect again.

ESPN wouldn't show the league even with my sign-in

Either the ESPN account you connected isn't in that league, or ESPN has ended the session (signing out of espn.com can do that). Sign in at espn.com with the account that's in the league, then connect again.

ESPN didn't accept what I pasted

Copy the whole Value of each cookie. espn_s2 is a long string of a few hundred characters; SWID looks like {1A2B3C4D-…} with the curly braces. Don't copy the cookie's name, domain or expiry, just the Value.

My league isn't in the list

The list only shows this season's leagues on that account. You can always type the league id instead: it's the number after leagueId= in the address bar when you're looking at the league on ESPN.

My roster looks out of date

We read your league fresh from its own site, keeping a copy for about a minute. Press "Refresh from ESPN" (or whichever site your league is on) under your league on My Team to read it again now. A move you just made may take a moment to show up on the platform itself.

Some of my players are missing

We project quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, tight ends, kickers and team defenses. Individual defensive players aren't projected, so a league with IDP slots shows a note saying so. A player we couldn't match to a current NFL roster is named in a note under your lineup.

Can I connect ESPN from my phone?

Not directly: phone browsers don't run extensions or let you see cookies. Connect once from a computer and your private league then works on your phone too, because the connection is kept on your StatGrades account, not in the browser.

Can StatGrades change my lineup or make moves?

No. We only ever read your league, and nothing we connect to can change it. We tell you what to change and you make the change on your league's own site.

Your data

  • For each league we keep only the link: which site, the league id, its name and which team is yours. Rosters and scoring are read fresh each time.
  • A league-site connection, such as your ESPN sign-in, is stored encrypted, used only to read your leagues, and deleted when you press Disconnect.
  • We never see your password for any league site.
